- Sorry to be piggybacking here. I became interested in this incident in NH from the NYT commodity yesterday Oct 11, 2021. According to what I relayed in the text msg, later on I asked if it was thunder and said it sounded similar a bomb, my husband said, that'south strange that there wasn't any lightning. The tree branch that split and the top of it that cruel had downed a telephone line. Consequently, the landline phone didn't work, but the base station for the wireless handsets no longer worked, that is, no longer was able to get power from the outlet and whatsoever other other outlet in the firm, which makes me assume there was an electric surge that damaged the base of operations station ... acquired past lighting? - Just want to share experience from mid-October last year (2020) in Minneapolis MN. Around midnight there was a thunderstorm, thunder and lighting, and then a deep loud smash. I turned to my husband and asked if that was thunder. Then I said, "That didn't audio similar thunder, it sounded like a bomb." And it sounded like it came from the street at the nearest intersection in front end of our house. The next day we discover a very big co-operative from a tree in our lawn croaky/split and the top of the branch hitting the basis, luckily not our house. The entire tree did not fall and the large branch itself did not fall to the ground. And then I tin can't imagine that the summit of the branch hitting the ground would have created that loud deep sonic boom. I suppose it was a lightning strike that created that deep loud blast sound.
